The Acai Berry—Nature’s Super Fruit

So you are not that young anymore! Can’t gallop your way up the stairs as swiftly as you could, pant heavily on having to run a few paces and there are those few strands of grey hair peeking out from the sides of your ears, reminding you that you are no more ‘fresh out  of college’. Well the hair can be dyed black and the wrinkles kept at bay by the galore of anti ageing creams, but what does one do about the imminent dangers of cardiovascular disorders that are so chronic of old age. Well fuss not- as the one stop solution to all your age related problems has arrived. And it is a deep red coloured fruit, the size of a grape--but less pulpy--, borne by a tree called the acai palm which grows in the equatorial rain forests of the Amazonian jungles and it goes by the name of an Acai Berry.

Ageing is caused by the work of free radicals, which are the by products of the body’s metabolism. The body is rid of them with the help of chemicals called anti oxidants, examples of which are ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and tocopherol (vitamin E) both of which are present in abundance in the acai berry. Said to contain Anthocyanins, a potent antioxidant, of the Flavonoid family, the berry is highly effective in countering cardiovascular irregularities. It is a powerhouse of essential minerals and vitamins that restores stamina and assists in protein synthesis. Loaded with plant sterols it reduces cholesterol and ensures that your heart stays young. A rich source of calcium, the berry’s use is greatly recommended in the prevention of osteoporosis. The high content of digestive fiber of this fruit also ensures smooth bowel circulation. The benefits of these red pearls are just too many to pen down.

It is available in a range of forms, from liquid to dry pulp. Freeze drying the pulp of these berries can greatly enhance their antioxidant properties. This purple fruit that boasts of a gorgeous taste, akin to that of chocolate coated blue berries-- is also instrumental in countering deadly diseases like stroke and cancer.

Why you should take it is entirely your prerogative, but take it you must! Get your fill of acai berry from your nearest local store today. It may delay the arrival of tomorrow.
