Nutrition is a process by the virtue of which various indispensable nutrients are provided to the body. These nutrients are needed for proper functioning of the body. If you miss out on any single nutrient then it can adversely affect your metabolism and the body growth. Let us first understand the different types of nutrients and what they actually provide to our body. There are 5 basic nutrients that are needed namely carbohydrate, proteins, vitamins, minerals and roughage.
Carbohydrates are energy giving foods and they are the ones that provide you enough energy to work all day long. You might have heard that if someone feels low or tired then they can take glucose, it is actually carbohydrate in its most basic form and it provides instant energy when it is taken because it doesn’t need to broken down further by enzymes. Proteins are the body building material as they help you grow, so next time your kid asks you how these wrestlers are so bulky and so tall, do tell them that they take a lot protein dear. So if your kids want to be like one, tell them to take more proteins in their daily dose.
Vitamins and minerals are like specific stimulators, they are used for specific purpose and they control specific actions in the body. Some vitamins are good for eyes, some are good for bones, some help in blood clotting and some help in reproductive processes. Vitamins do not have an effect on our bodies in a straight line. On the contrary they behave as catalysts and take result by combining with the proteins in our bodies to create vigorous enzymes. It is these enzymes that perform all the critical functions in our bodies as they are they key to secretion of hormones. These enzymes are responsible for producing chemical reactions in the body. These chemical reactions are all linked. When one commences, it triggers another reaction which triggers another. When a body is vitamin deficient, this chain may break down and cause illness, disease or other conditions that affect the body negatively.
Minerals are like metals in the body, they provide the additional support to the rest of the nutrients. Roughage doesn’t provide anything to the body if we speak professionally, but what they do is that they help in improving your metabolism and more importantly the digestive powers.
Now this is what our body needs in a day, yes all of them, and that too in some minimum quantity. If we fall short of this then surely we will suffer from what scientifically is known as malnutrition. Malnutrition is a stage which refers to deficiency of nutrient in a person and it can lead to many threatening disorders in life like kwashiorkor. Hence to lead a happy life proper nutrition is needed.
Out of the nutrients explained above vitamins are considered to be the most important since they reflect specific functioning to the body. People say that it is the vitamins you take that keep you hair tips to the tips of feet healthy. This is why many medical practitioners comment that no nutrition is complete without vitamins. These are the ingredients that keep us moving all the time. This is why we are seeing extreme growths in the vitamin supplement industry. Thus if we need to improve our nutrition then we got to work on vitamin intake.
Many underdeveloped countries are facing the problem of malnutrition these days, the reason behind there inability to provide health care to their citizens is the lack of resources and lack of funds. Many organizations are coming up help these countries and their citizens like the UNICEF, WHO etc. the main objective is to make every life happier and healthier. These organizations cannot work alone if they do not get support from world super powers and the developing countries. So we can imagine how far we have to go if we aim at a healthier world all around us.
