Herbal, Natural, Home Remedies for Insect Bites/Stings
- Citronella Oil, diluted in vegetable oil and applied to the skin.
- Place a cotton ball soaked in witch hazel extract over the bite and hold for 10 minutes. A paste of baking soda may also be used in this way.
- In Indian households, the smoke produced as a result of burning of neem leaves in a small vessel, 1 hour prior to going to bed helps in driving away the mosquitoes.
- Mix water with cornstarch into a paste and apply. This is effective in drawing out the poisons of most insect bites, and is also an effective remedy for diaper rash.
- Apply sliced raw garlic, which relieves wasp and bee stings; follow with an ice pack.
- Make a paste of vinegar and corn starch. Apply to bite and let dry. This draws poison and reduces swelling.
