Information on Lactobacillus Acidophilus

It is the predominant friendly intestinal bacteria in the upper intestinal tract.

Lactobacillus Acidophilus Benefits

Regular use of lactobacillus acidophilus keeps the intestines clean. They are vital for the proper absorption of nutrients and they also inhibit the growth of the fungus candida albicans yeast (thrush). It helps menopausal women who are more susceptible to vaginal yeast infections because of the dryness that accompanies the drop in estrogen. It can also boost the immune system and eliminate bad breath by intestinal putrefaction (food decaying in the intestines). It aids in the treatment of acne and other skin problems as well.

Lactobacillus Acidophilus Sources & Supplements

The Lactobacillus Acidophilus bacteria are abundant in yogurts and serve to strengthen the intestinal flora. Their main antigonists are antibiotics, which kill all micro-organisms, whether 'friend' or 'foe'. Thus, when on antibiotics, it is very important to replenish the flora by eating plenty of lactobacillus acidophilus food and supplements. Lactobacillus Acidophilus is available in acidophilus culture, incubated in soy, milk, or yeast bases. As a diet supplement, take 2 lactobacillus acidophilus capsules or 2 tablespoons liquid - three times daily, an hour before or after meals. Alternatively, you can take 1 packet of lactobacillus acidophilus granules in 6 ounces of juice once or twice a day.
