Liquid Vitamins

Vitamins are those organic nutrients found in food that the body needs daily in small amounts to stay strong maintaining good health and ensuring the proper development and general functioning of the body. Vitamins can be obtained naturally from plants and animals that we eat or as dietary supplements in pill form or as liquid vitamins.

There are two major vitamins groups, those that are fat soluble such as vitamin A, vitamin K, vitamin D and vitamin E, or vitamins that are water soluble including vitamin C or ascorbic acid, vitamin B12, vitamin B6, folic acid, biotin, niacin, thiamin, riboflavin and pantothenic acid. The development of food science has developed all these as liquid vitamins supplements.

The intake of multi-vitamin supplements, protein supplements and mineral additives are required, since it is not always possible to get them from the foods directly, as in example in poor, not-balanced diets. So, when it comes to vitamins we can say that you are what you digest, and for liquid vitamins absorption is the key.

Malnutrition and all those diseases brought on by vitamin in-suffiency are responsible each year of the death of millions of people word wide. Eating healthy foods plus the intake of vitamins and minerals at mealtime may save your life and the absorption of liquid vitamins starts as soon as they are swallowed.

This is particularly remarkable for those individuals whose diets are balanced but, having a particular condition that affects their body's ability for absorption; they can't see results with the intake of cold compressed vitamin pills which have binders, fillers and preservatives for longer shelf life. This prevents them from breaking down easily making the absorption difficult.

It is estimated that the absorption rate for liquid vitamins is near 98 percent in comparison to the 10 up to 20 percent for the vitamin pills. However, vitamin pills are still prescribed more regularly by health practitioners as compared to liquid vitamins, forgetting that the body's ability to absorb nutrients from food and the supplements depends on stomach acids and digestive enzymes that decrease as people get older.

The difference in the absorption average percentage is because solid pills lose much of their effectiveness as they pass through the digestive system because they don't dissolve completely, while liquid vitamins bypass the digestive process and are absorbed into the blood stream and into the cell directly, so they are an alternative for individuals who find vitamin pills unsympathetic, whether for their taste, or difficult to swallow and digest.

Most of the vitamins mentioned earlier are available in liquid form and also in a wide variety of flavors which make them appealing to everyone but especially for senior people and children. Liquid vitamins are also available as multi-vitamins and/or combined with other nutrients that make them a drinkable source of nutrition. The recommended intake of liquid vitamins is at least once daily with your meal so the body digests them more effectively.

Although every day more health related companies are offering liquid vitamin supplements, it is know that vitamins stability is extremely poor when suspended or dissolved in a liquid. The disadvantage of liquid vitamins compared to pills which come with preservatives and an enteric coating, is that they can't carry the enzymes in a viable form for more than a day, and their nutrients are destroyed when they come in contact with the stomach acids before reaching the upper intestines where most absorption processes happens.

However, it is a true fact that people have difficulty swallowing vitamins or absorption problems have seen dramatic improvement in their nutrition with the intake of liquid vitamins, but if you are just a regular person with no particular medical condition or health problems you can also benefit from drinking liquid vitamins. In the end, the final decision is yours.
