A low carb diet is indeed a great regimen to shed those extra pounds. This diet, undoubtedly do wonders as far as weight loss is concerned but it does may pose certain side effects. The intensity of these unwanted effects may vary from person to person. It is advisable to wary of these before starting with your diet regimen.

Low Carb Diet and Hair Loss

The most common side effect experienced by those who start with a low carb diet is that they start loosing their hair at a faster pace than usual. As a matter of fact, Dr. Atkins himself actually investigated and found that about 10% of the people who tried this diet experienced hair loss.

Although, the connection between the low carb meal and hair loss seems to be unknown still, it is assumed to be possibly due to scarcity of certain vital nutrients. The low carb diet can often cause the dieter's cortisol levels to shoot up which in turn, leads hair fall. So, it's better to beware and if in case you are also experiencing a similar problem, you may need some modification in your diet plan!

The Atkins diet is the most popular of the low carb diets and the first choice of all the low-calorie diet seekers. The add-on advantage to the diet is that you do not have to cut out your favorites and instead, you will be adding variety into your diet.

A low carb diet is the rage and among the first in its kind to gain popularity. The results are astonishing indeed, provided you successfully resist the initial restrictive phase of the diet and cut down on carbs suitably, as and when needed.

You should also know that low carb dieting is not a new 'fad', but rather it has been around for many years, in fact long before any type of low fat diet came about. As well you should be prepared because the first few days of a low carb diet will be the worst because the body will crave the carbs, as most people are unwittingly addicted to carbs, and they don't usually realize this until they try to reduce them or cut them out of their diet.
